What does it mean to volunteer? Why would Drew require you to volunteer for 100 hours during your high school career?
I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering. It has taught me the value of giving back without looking for a monetary reward. Volunteering teaches you to be humble and to learn to assist others in every way possible. Volunteering also builds a person's character. My volunteer experiences include assisting on after-school photography projects, film projects, Atlanta Food Bank, Theater Set Building (which I had no prior knowledge but learned quite a bit), and serving people at wedding events. All of these experiences have allowed me to work with all types of people and learn what it takes to help others in need. I plan to continue volunteering for the remainder of my life.
The reason that Drew requires students to volunteer for 100 hours during our high school years is to learn the importance of giving back to the community where you live, work, or attend school. It helps you to appreciate the simple things in life that we sometimes can take for granted.
