Calaya's Story:

Charles R. Drew Charter School has been more than just a place of learning for me—it has been a foundation for my growth, both academically and personally. Throughout my years here, Drew has shaped me into the confident speaker I am today, giving me the courage to use my voice in and outside the classroom. From presentations to leadership roles, I’ve learned to express myself clearly and passionately. Beyond academics, the friendships I’ve made at Drew are some of the most meaningful connections in my life. The tight bonds I’ve formed with my peers have given me a sense of belonging, and the emotional support I received during my lowest moments reminded me that I was never alone. Whether it was teachers, friends, or mentors, someone was always there to uplift and encourage me. As I prepare for the future, I do so with confidence, knowing that Drew has equipped me with the skills, resilience, and self-assurance to take on whatever comes next. This school has not only educated me but has also shaped me into a strong, capable individual ready to step into the world with purpose.
