Dance
I am a dancer, and I’ve been dancing for 10 years. I love dance because it allows me to express myself while also teaching me discipline and focus.
I currently dance with Atlanta Ballet, Ballethnic, and Terminus. I trained at Ballethnic for six years, Atlanta Ballet for two, and now perform with Terminus. My training includes ballet, pointe, tap, African, and jazz, which has given me a strong foundation and a versatile style.
For four years, I performed in a holiday show called The Urban Nutcracker. It’s my favorite performance because, unlike traditional Nutcrackers, it reflects the local culture of Atlanta and celebrates Black culture. I enjoy being part of a large production like that—it takes coordination among many dancers, long rehearsals, and multiple costume fittings, all coming together to tell a powerful and beautiful story through dance.
I started playing soccer my sophomore year, and from the very beginning, the soccer team was incredibly welcoming. Even though I had never played soccer before, they never made me feel out of place. That support made a huge difference for me. Over time, soccer became so much more than just a sport—it became an outlet where I could build my confidence, push myself to grow, and feel like I truly belonged.
Being part of the team gave me a safe space where I could take risks, learn from my mistakes, and constantly improve—not just as a player, but as a person. I’ve formed meaningful friendships and built connections that extend beyond the field. The experience has taught me the value of teamwork, discipline, and staying committed to something, even when it’s new or challenging. Looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for everything soccer has given me. It’s become a big part of who I am.
Art
I love art because it's a positive way to express myself—and it's fun. I enjoy turning my thoughts into art. The mediums I work with include mixed media, acrylic painting, watercolors, drawing, pottery, and photography. I've studied art in school, at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and at Callanwolde. This year, I'm taking AP Art for the second time.
Photography
I love photography. Photography is a way for me to tell stories about people, places, and things in my own way. I started taking photos in 6th grade. In class, I learned all the photography elements and principles. Ever since that class, I have been taking pictures with a digital camera and my phone camera. My teacher even asked me to help teach other students the basics of photography because of my talent. In my free time, I like to experiment with capturing images from different angles and of various textures. Every time I travel, I take pictures of my surroundings, including nature and interesting locations. Photography helps me connect with nature and notice the little details.
These two pieces are pieces that I made this summer. It was my first time doing pottery. The bowl was made on the pottery wheel. I created 15 pieces during my session. This was the last piece- the technique use was raku.
