I learned to use digital tools to collage the letters spelling "ChemVAS". I used symbols of art and chemistry such as beakers and crayons. I also incorporated a a mix of values and textures in my back round.

I was assigned an atom on the periodic table, which was helium and I used a balloon to demonstrate it. I got my idea because when most people think of helium they think of balloons. I used photopea to create this and used different type of brush tools to get the cloud and glowing effect. A principle of design I used was emphasis as you can see the big red balloon in the middle that draws your attention. Making this was a little difficult but it worked out in the end.

I was assigned an element and had to make a ceramic tile using its symbol, an example of it, and its atomic number. I got cobalt which is in rocks and crystals. Its atomic number is 27, and I made two rocks to symbolize it. To make this I had to sketch out a design, then I had to start making the tile, I then put on the letters, number, and rocks. After that I had to let it dry and then I glazed it. It got fired and became what it is now. I need to get better at my glazing and making everything even.

My artwork illustrates going shopping. In my illustration I used emphasis. Whenever I go shopping and I walk into a store I see the usual neutral colored shirts, plain cardigans, and several shades of blue jeans. However, there is always that one thing that catches my eye, wether that's rhinestoned heels, a neon jacket, or in this case a pink coat. In this illustration I drew the normal blue jeans on a table and the dull cash register. Your eyes are immediately drawn to the pretty pink coat hanging up on the wall. In order to create the emphasis on the pink coat, I made the tables neutral and used darker colors that don't stand out. I also outlined the coat in pink marker.

If I say no to hanging out, it is not because I am rude or I am avoiding you. I have a very low social battery and I need time to recharge. I value the time I spend alone. I would love to reach out and hangout on a day I am feeling well, but for now I need to be alone.

In class, we made calling cards inspired by Adrian Piper. This is to let people know a certain way you feel without having to over explain it.
I have learned many things related to STEAM in 10th grade. I learned how to correlate STEAM with what I am doing. For example my art class was joined with my chemistry class, and sometimes when we would learn about different things in chemistry, we would use that to make art. For example, when we learned about the periodic table in chemistry, we were assigned elements in art and we made clay molds and put our element on it, along with the atomic number and the atomic mass. Doing this we used the science and art in STEAM to correlate those two things together.
In 10th grade, we did PBL projects that also involved STEAM. In the first semester, we had a project all about trees. In chemistry, we 3D printed molecules and made a chemis-tree, we used our knowledge of clay from art to make trees in Spanish, and we made ornaments for the trees in world history from different religions and dynasties. In second semester we learned about nuclear chemistry and controversial conflicts and in art we took inspiration from Picasso’s Guernica and we created our own version of it using modern day conflicts we would be willing to fight for. I learned that you can use STEAM in anything, like painting stained glass windows involving math like geometry and shapes but also art for the painting itself. In 10th grade, we adapted all parts of STEAM to do mini or big projects.
