ABOUT ME

My name is Annabelle An, I was born in Atlanta, GA, I am a 12th grade student at Charles R. Drew Charter School, and have been attending the school since kindergarten.

I truly have too many hobbies to list, but often they’re related in the overarching theme that I love storytelling in nearly every single one of its forms (musicals, mythology, history, museums, books, TV shows/movies, video games, art, writing; I could go on)

I also love anything that has me working with my hands and my brain at the same time, including playing an instrument, drawing, writing, playing video games, arts & crafts (from sewing to embroidery to painting), and puzzles.

Harp is also a huge part of my life. I’ve been playing since I was in 6th grade, and over the years I have become ingrained into an incredible community through various events, visits, classes, and programs. I’ve met harpists of all ages from all over the country, and the harp is truly an instrument that allows you to forge incredible connections with others and contribute to your community.

POST SECONDARY PLANS

I am planning on attending Wellesley College, one of the top girls' colleges in the country, on a full tuition scholarship. I am planning on majoring in Sociology, with the possibility of going to law school or graduate school at the University of Michigan. I am incredibly excited, grateful, and nervous to take this leap into a new social, academic, and cultural environment.

Academic Goals

I plan to study sociology at Wellesley, with goals of advancing sociological research in LGBTQIA+ populations as well as the utilization of internet culture, media, and trends in sociological and market research.

I also have plans to continue my harp education through private lessons and non-major orchestras at Wellesley. Additionally, I am hoping to work at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp as a counselor/assistant over the summers, where I have had an incredible experience studying harp with my peers.
