Change is Gonna Come Production Plan

The focus of my film was how Covid-19 was affecting me. I wanted to show how the pandemic was affecting how I was sleeping and interacting with others. I chose this topic because two of our choices were “personal change” and “change due to Covid-19” and I figured that if I merged the two together then I would get something that many people can relate to. I wanted to normalize what I was feeling in quarantine because I am sure that there are people that don’t want to acknowledge the mental effects of the pandemic.

I planned my script in four different sections. I wanted the beginning to give an introduction to how I currently feel. After the brief introduction, I moved to focus on comparing those feelings to how I felt prior to quarantine. In the third section, I explained the start of these issues. I want the audience to see how these outcomes were progressive. I ended by looking at ways to make people feel normal. I gave solutions that I used in order to solve some of these problems. I connected my script to biology because we talked about homeostasis, and during quarantine, I feel as though my body is having trouble naturally maintaining. “Being in the same place around the same people all of the time can just make somebody insane.” this quote shows how I focus on how a lot of these issues are caused by being stuck in the same environment for extended periods of time.

In order to plan my video, I looked at the different lines in my script. I wanted to see what visuals I could use in order to help the audience understand my words better. I took different lines of my script and connected them to matching visuals and audio. Having this plan made it easier once all of the visuals and audio elements were gathered. I used Microsoft Photos in order to put my video together. At first, it was a little difficult because it was my first time using this program. After I got used to the program it got easier to connect the audio and visuals together. I have a couple of video elements within the video, but I wanted to focus on pictures because I felt that it would connect the audience without taking too much attention away from the voiceover.

Overall, I feel like my video came out really well. My vision was nicely portrayed throughout the entire film. The ending result showed exactly what I wanted the audience to see. The main issue that I had was the volume of the voiceover because it sounded fine when it was by itself but when I put it in the video it seemed too quiet. I was able to toy with the background audio to make it seem louder. I enjoyed making the video, but if we do this again I want to find better editing software because I feel like the editing portion could have been easier if I used a better program. Throughout the entire process, I learned how to put sound, visuals, and diction together to make a piece that can catch someone’s attention and portray an important message.
