The first song we began to learn this semester is When it Rains, It Pours by Bonnie Goodrich. I like this song because of the screwdriver technique we larned at the beginning. It was also a great way to ease into the semester slowly.
This is the piece our class has been working on for the past few months, Fiesta for harp ensemble by Gail Barber. I love this piece because, like the name "Fiesta" meaning party, it reminds me of something I would hear at a very festive event. It is so easy to get stuck in your head because of the catchy rythm and festive tune. The song makes me think of a quincinearra, I imagine everyone dancing with their pretty clothes having a good time to celebrate the joyous coming of age event. Additionally, I like the setup of this video because we got to get out of the classroom and show another part of our school.
For my Harp final, I arranged my own version of Adele's "Someone Like You". This arrangment consists of my harp skills while also showcasing my vocal abilities. I enjoyed doing this project because I was able to learn the basics of arranging music to suit the Harp.
