In geometry, I applied transformations by designing a video game with 3 levels. After designing my video game, I turned the video game into an animation. The goal of my game was to get to the end. In order to complete my game, translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations had to be used. It was important throughout the process that we remembered the differences for each transformation. Translations are when you move the shape to a different location but it stays the same side. Dilations only the shape changes sizes. Reflections are when the shape just mirrors/ flips. rotations are when the shape twists or turns.
In Geometry I learned about the properties of parallelograms and used the properties to design a piece of stained glass. The inspiration for my stained glass was a locker. My partners (Ariel Gray & Jasmine Allen) and I wanted to do this because we were at school. The shapes I included in my design were circles, triangles, rhombus, squares, & parallelograms. I made sure that my parallelograms abided by the properties of parallelograms which are opposite sides are congruent, opposite angles are congruent, and consecutive angles are supplementary diagonals bisect each other.
For this assignment, we did a hands-on project with a cookie. First we had to find out the circumference, diameter, and area. We also had to find sector area and arc length. Then we cut the cookie in 4 and got the angles. Next we compared our data to see the similarities and differences.
Data: The total area of the four sectors was 38.5 cm squared. My numbers were the same for the original cookie compared to the other. The 4 arc lengths should add up because they are just pieces of circumference. Lastly, the 4 sector areas should add up to the area because the sector areas are also just pieces.
We had to create a survey on a topic. My partner and I chose the legal working age in Georgia. We then made two frequency tables and all different kinds of them. We also had to create 10 questions off of the tables. The main point of this project was to collect and process data.
