The Columbian Exchange was the exchange of diseases, ideas, and food. crops, and populations between the New World and the Old World following the voyage to the Americas by Christopher Columbus in 1492. The most defining events were Christopher Columbus introduced horses, sugar plants, and disease to the New World while facilitating the introduction of New World commodities like sugar, tobacco, chocolate, and potatoes to the Old World. The process by which commodities, people, and diseases crossed the Atlantic is known as the Columbian Exchange. Three items that were exposed were horses, sugarcane, and onions. I like pepperoni pizza and it has tomatoes in the sauce and pepperoni is made with pigs. I helped make the sweet potatoes and plate the food. I also brought pineapples and vanilla extract.
The project helped me to experience how to build structures during ancient times. We had to problem solve and use the environment around us. We had teamwork. I helped take the brick out of the mold and also helped make ideas for our bamboo structure. I also helped build it. I observerved my peers mix the dirt for the brick and scooping the mix in the mold. I learned how to make a dirt/ mud brick and also create a bamboo structure. This relates to other classes because we are writing about ancient times in ela, in art we will be doing pottery because they need to transport water for mud bricks. Egypt, Mesopotamia, india, and china all were ancient cities that had to problem solve and work together to survive.
