For my artwork I chose the molecule methane. During my research I dug deep into methane pollution and greenhouse gases. Methane is a greenhouse gas that traps 86 times more heat than carbon dioxide. Methane pollution is responsible for more than 20% of the world's warming. After reading these statistics I researched how methane is created and what produces the most methane. I discovered that fossil fuels were one of the biggest producers of methane. I demonstrated factory pollution in my art and the production of fossil fuels with my TinkerCAD methane particle added into the smoke.
In my art I used repetition with my methane molecule, I changed the size and position of each of them and repeated them many times throughout my art work. TinkerCAD can be used in many art/design and engineering fields. It is a simple 3D modeling tool that is easy to navigate and use, it can be used to create models for endless products. Photo shop can be utilized in digital art careers and even science careers. It can be used to make scientific models, art work, education drawings, and designs.
For my Recycled Textiles project I created ocean themed cat toys! I used an old jacket and old dress for my materials, I even used the leftover scraps to stuff the plushies. Fast fashion is a large waste issue in the USA, my toys were made completely out of recycled clothing.I used multiple principles of design, including proportion when it came to creating my fishes, designing their fins and eyes placements. I used pattern with my stitches and repetition with my fishes, ( I made two blue fishes with the same white stitches). I made them by dawling my fabric outlines on the jacket, and then cutting it out very carefully, after I have the first side cut out I trace the outline on another part of the fabric. After I have the two sides cut I pin the two pieces together and begin my stitches until I have about an inch between my starting place. Then I stuff my ornament with my scrap fabric and once I’m satisfied with the stuffing, I then finish my first round of stitches. After I go over the stitches again so I have no gaps. After I complete my basic ornament I sew on a button for the eyes. I really enjoyed this project and the only thing I found frustrating was the stuffing in my snake/eel. I really am proud of my end products, if I could do something different I would have uses white string for my snake/eel stitches instead of black. I learned a lot abou sewing from this I already had a basic sewing skill set before this, but this project really solidified my skill.
Time management was great with our project, we met all the deadlines and my group’s collaboration was also spot on. The writing portion of the project was definitely a struggle, I was proud of my portion’s end product but getting started was very difficult. PBL also caused an abundance of stress and really took a toll on my mental in the beginning. I wish our end animation was better, but I really enjoyed the actual drawing portion of the PBL. I learned a lot in that class about digital art and animation, I also learned a lot doing the Spanish poster. The teachers could’ve improved in a lot of things in this project, but definitely communication and in classes, like ELA the entire project was given as homework. The project completely stressed out the entire grade and it was assigned so early in the year. The teachers should’ve made the PBL the main thing instead of making it an extra homework assignment, we were assigned work along with the PBL and the workload was too much and decreased the quality of our product.
