How to get an instrument

• Rent (recommended)

  • •   If you do not already own an instrument, renting is strongly recommended. Music and Arts is the recommended rental company (see below). This company works with our schools and facilitates the rental process in addition to providing a number of other services.

    •  Please follow the rental directions below.

    • You are not required to use Music and Arts. If you choose to rent through another company please consult with Mr. Cooper first to assure that you are renting from a reputable business.

    • Music and Arts will provide a limited number of scholarship instruments to families who qualify (must be on free/reduced lunch).

    • Instruments are generally delivered on Thursdays. The sooner you place your order the sooner it will arrive at your student's school.

• Purchase

  • • Purchasing a quality instrument is a great financial investment and is not recommended for beginners. If you are seriously considering purchasing an instrument please speak with Mr. Cooper first.

• Hand-me-down/owned instruments

  • • Frequently there are used instruments owned by family members or neighbors. If you have access to a used instrument that you would like your student to use, please contact Mr. Cooper so that the instrument can be inspected. Many times the instrument can be repaired by Mr. Cooper free of charge.

    • If you already own a working instrument, Mr. Cooper will work to place your student on the that instrument.

• Scholarship Instrument/Borrowing an instrument from the school

  • • The school owns a limited number of band instruments that may be loaned to families who are not be able to afford rental cost or acquire an instrument by other means. 

    • The rental company may be able to provide a limited number of "scholarship" instruments.

    • You will still be responsible for purchasing a lesson book.

Online Rental Directions

Please follow the steps carefully to ensure quick delivery of your students instrument. Do not forget to get the book.

1. Go to www.musicarts.com

2. Click on rentals

3. Enter zip code, grade level, and the name of your student's school (must be the full name of the school)

   1. • Joseph Campbell Elementary School

      • Greenmont Ave. Elementary School

      • Brookside Elementary School

      • George Englesby Elementary School

4. Click find my school

5. Click on your school (listed on the left)

6. Pick your instrument 

7. Select you trial period (there should be only one option)

   1. • I recommend leaving the liability damage waiver, this will cover any repairs or replacements needed for your instrument.

8. Select your additional items

   1. • Book is required for all students

      • Music stand is optional

9. Click continue

10. Enter personal info and agree to the terms and conditions

11. Click add to cart

12. Review your order, then click checkout

13. Create and account or continue as a guest

14. Select your delivery options

    1. • Delivery to your house will include shipping costs

       • Delivery to school or picking up in-store are free

         1. • Closest store for pick up is University Music on Middlesex St. in Lowell. About four and a half miles from the high school
