Go Outside ‘GO’ Grants provide North Carolina students opportunities for outdoor experiences and to learn by doing. North Carolina educators are encouraged to apply for grant funding for outdoor field trips, visiting programs, and educational structures

Learning Happens Here $5,000 maximum, ROLLING
This fund reimburses for field trips to over 100 educational sites managed by the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR). You can choose from state parks, historic sites, museums, aquariums, the NC Symphony, the Zoo, and more! Funding is provided by the State of North Carolina.

Keep NC Beautiful Window of Opportunity Grant $1,000 (exceptions up to $2,500), WINTER
The grants are for outdoor classroom learning projects that enhance the beautification of campuses throughout NC, along with replenishment and recycling projects that educate the youth of North Carolina on the impacts of preserving and enhancing our state’s environmental sustainability.

Support school-garden program operations, program supplies, and educator stipends.
Wild Wonder Foundation MicroGrants Up to $1000, SPRING AND FALL
Funding for nature journaling projects and materials.
Shade Structure Grant $8,000, WINTER
Funding to public schools and non-profit organizations for installing permanent shade structures for outdoor locations that are not protected from the sun, such as playgrounds, pools, or recreation spaces. In addition to the grant, the AAD also provides a permanent sign for display near the shade structure.
Wild Ones Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant $100-$500, SUMMER AND FALL
Funding for native plant gardens and landscaping projects throughout the United States. The funds are designated for acquiring native plants and seeds for outdoor learning areas that engage youth (preschool to high school) directly in planning, planting and caring for native plant gardens.
Outdoor Classroom Challenge $10,000, WINTER
Project Green Schools is challenging schools across the country to develop and implement a meaningful outdoor classroom and learning space for a chance to win a Grand Prize of $10,000 to further enhance an existing space or build a new space.

Worm Farm Kits for Public Schools Worm Composting Kits & Curriculum, WINTER
Let’s Go Compost is providing free worm composting kits to qualifying public school classrooms in the United States for the Spring 2026 semester. Materials are estimated to ship in early 2026.
Fruit Tree Planting Foundation Orchard Fruit trees and shrubs and support, ROLLING
Our orchard donations are available for recipients who pledge to care for their trees and utilize them for a charitable purpose. Orchards are donated where the harvest will best serve communities for generations.
Karma for Cara MicroGrants $250-$1,000, ROLLING
K4C helps young citizen leaders execute and magnify their initiatives to help repair our world. Students 18 years of age and under may apply for funds between $250 and $1,000 to complete service projects in their communities throughout the United States. Applications can be submitted at any time but are reviewed quarterly following these deadlines: January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st.
EcoRise Student Innovation Fund $700, ROLLING
K–12 educators receive curricula and professional development to implement design thinking in their classrooms and guide students through Eco-Audits. Students who collect data and design environmental solutions based on what they learn are eligible to apply for up to $700 to bring solutions that tackle sustainability challenges to life in their community.
Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes $10,000, SPRING
Each year, the Barron Prize honors 25 outstanding young leaders ages 8 to 18 who have made a significant positive difference to people and the environment.

Each year, Walmart U.S. stores, Sam’s Clubs, and Distribution Centers award local cash grants ranging from $250 to $5000. These local grants are designed to address the unique needs of the communities where we operate.
