Oak Grove's Virtual Wax Museum, part I & II
The last Black History Month Project that we will begin together is going to be all about visualization and using our imaginations!
We are going to listen and read the lyrics to one of my favorite songs by an African American musician that you've probably heard a little bit about this month in Ms. Jernigan's class! His name is Louis Armstrong. Mr Armstrong was an American jazz trumpeter and blues singer from New Orleans, Louisiana-- and we are going to draw what we visualize while listening to one of his most loved songs, "What A Wonderful World".
I want you to focus on what feelings and pictures come to your mind when you hear this beautiful song... and then draw what your mind sees-- create your masterpiece using the words that Mr Armstrong sings to inspire you!! You may also include parts of the lyrics to "What A Wonderful World"(the parts that have to do with your vision) if you'd like!
Below is a videos of this wonderful song set to a book that illustrates the lyrics... and also a video of how some students put their own imagery to Mr Armsrtong's music. Enjoy! And I cannot wait to see your artwork, inspired by what you see when you listen to "What A Wonderful World"!
