Duke TeachHouse Teacher Talk
Duke TeachHouse invites DPS educators to join us for a Teacher Talk, happening at Book Harvest this Thursday, October 16th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Teacher Talks bring together educators from across Durham, TeachHouse Fellows, and pre-service teachers to dialogue around timely, critical issues in K-12 schools. Forty Under Forty celebrates young alumni who have made a lasting impact in their communities and the world.
Meghan Wilder is a passionate educator, mentor, and nonprofit leader dedicated to strengthening education and community ties in Durham, North Carolina. Her career began in 2011 as a DPS substitute and has since included roles as Instructional Assistant, Lead Teacher, Assistant Magnet Coordinator, and Student Services Coordinator. She currently supports over 40 beginning educators across seven schools as a District Beginning Teacher Mentor for Durham Public Schools.
Meghan earned both her B.A. in Elementary Education and M.Ed. in School Administration from North Carolina Central University. As a proud descendant of Dr. James E. Shepard and Annie Day Shepard, founders of NCCU, she continues their legacy of educational access, leadership, and community uplift.
She is the co-founder of Bull City B.E.S.T., a nonprofit serving over 200 youth through free academic, athletic, and leadership programming focused on equity and empowerment.
Meghan is a proud member of Kappa Delta Pi National Professional Association and Honor Society for Educators, Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Women Educators, and The Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Above all, Meghan is a proud daughter, wife, and mother who leads with purpose, heart, and an unwavering commitment to building strong schools and stronger communities.
