FAQs:
Who is this camp for? This camp is perfect for rising 7th-9th graders interested in learning about high school baseball from high school baseball coaches. It is not necessary to be enrolled (or looking to enroll in the future) at Northfield High School. This is open to anyone who fits those grades and wants to learn and play.
What does the camp provide? Each camper will receive one Northfield baseball jersey and hat. We also have a certified athletic trainer on site, as well as plenty of water, an active daily schedule, and top-notch instruction.
What do I need to provide my child? Children need to have baseball pants, necessary equipment (glove, bat if they have it, catcher's gear if they catch), a water bottle, as well as sunscreen and a packed lunch. Lunches should be able to keep cold (no microwavable items, etc.) and clearly labeled with the player's name.Â
What can my child expect from camp? Each day will be split into two sections - an instructional section and a game. Players will be organized into teams and will be coached by current Northfield players, supervised by current Northfield coaches. Each morning will be full of drills, skill-work, and mini-games focused around the learning objectives. All drills, mini-games, and routines are the same ones that Northfield baseball utilizes on a daily basis, so players should expect to learn how Northfield teaches and coaches baseball to its spring teams. Games take place after lunch and will be about an hour in length.
Where do I drop off and pick up my child? Refer to the map on this webpage and you'll see a star located at the parking lot next to the tennis courts at the Northfield athletic complex. Drop-off and pick-up will take place at the end of the parking lot closest to the softball field and concession stand/bathroom. Coaches will be ready to check in players as they arrive, and players will be brought to that location at the end of the day. Both arrival and departure will require a check-in by coaches.
