The Construction Essentials program at Legacy Options High School educates students in safety, construction math, tools and materials, and employability in addition to the skills and techniques used in carpentry and basic wood-working. The program is in partnership with Careers in Construction Colorado (CICC) and the Home Builders Institute (HBI). The program provides OSHA 10 Safety training and an industry recognized certification through the completion of the Pre-Apprenticeship Certification Program (PACT) Core curriculum during the first year.

Hi, I’m Patrick Jenkins a son, youngest brother of 4 siblings, husband, and father of two. I grew up in a small-town Ida Grove, IA population 2,000. I have always loved sports whether it’s playing them or watching them, with the Iowa State Cyclones being my ultimate favorite team. I moved to Colorado 14 years ago for my love of Snowboarding that I found at age 16. I try to get on the mountain as often as possible with the joy of getting my kids introduced to it now. As a husband and father of 2 kids; one girl and one boy I enjoy family time and staying busy with all of the activities my kids have going on. I have always had a passion and joy for the construction industry and hands on projects. My past favorite job was as a custom woodworker building furniture out of our Colorado Rocky Mountain Beetle Kill Pine Trees.

This is my second year as a teacher and I’m really excited to be teaching the CTE Construction position at Legacy Options High School. I’m excited to pass on my joy for building things with your hands, and the sense of accomplishment it brings. I love knowing that no matter what path you take in life you can always benefit from having the knowledge to build or fix things on your own.
