Kanyini; responsibility and unconditional love for all of creation

My body of work explores the devastation of the recent bushfires and the resilience and beauty of Australian flora along with the connection between humans, nature, and the emotions experienced in the aftermath.

The small, modest pieces investigate the sacredness of Australia’s botanical wonders, while wax, printing, bleached photography and pyrography explore the ramifications of the fires on my local community which each circle, symbolic of a memory or experience.

Artists including Adonna Khare with her detailed monochromatic drawings of nature and Fiona Hall with her skilled handcrafted objects of art, had aided in inspiring the format of my body of work to communicate the personal and communal experience.
