Title of work: Symbiosis

Symbiosis can be defined as the relationship between two species in close contact with each other. Inspired by those of Adonna Khare and Fiona Hall, my work explores the relationship between humanity and nature through this biological concept. Humanity has long placed a distinction between itself and the natural world, seeing itself as separate, even though our civilization is built upon the back of the natural world. I have used contrast between the realistic elements of the animals and the simpler micron lines of the manmade elements to highlight this distinction. As humans are advancing in industry and in population, humanity and nature are being forced closer and closer together, forming a symbiotic relationship.

The natural world is carrying humanity as it advances, and it is our choice whether we want this relationship to be parasitic or mutualistic.
