• Cabin address is 18445 County Road 162. From Hwy 285, go West onto CR162. The Mt. Princeton Hot Springs is 5 miles West. Watch your odometer as you pass and the cabin is 3 miles further on the Chalk Cliff side.
• We are in Nathrop, CO. Buena Vista is 12-16 miles away (depending on your route) has shops on East Main/West Main/South Main. Salida is about 16 miles.
• There’s one stop light in BV and it divides E/W Main. Find South Main by going to the end of East Main. It’s on the Arkansas River.
• There’s a great river stroll (AND the Eddyline Restaurant, Midland Stop coffee/gelato shop, & Sundance sheepskin & gifts) in the South Main neighborhood. All the way East on Main, there is hiking right from The River Park bridge up Barbara Whipple Trail to a whole network of hiking and biking. There are parks, great restaurants, & two grocery stores: City Market & The Lettucehead (with two locations…one on Hwy 24 & one on East Main).
• Our area is known for friendly people, biking, hiking, climbing 14,000+ foot mountains (Mt. Princeton out the North windows is 14,196' and Mt. Antero out front, South, is 14,275'), horseback riding, whitewater rafting, kayaking (find kayak parks in Buena Vista and Salida), XC skiing, downhill skiing (less than an hour to Ski Cooper and Monarch) ATVing, snowmobiling, bird watching, fishing, hot springs, live music, art, and more.
• Great coffee: The Roastery & Simple Eatery (both on East Main), Midland Stop (South Main), Brown Dog, Cool Beans, Vista View Cafe in Best Western (all on US Hwy 24).
• Salida has a lot of art shops, is also on the river, and has offers many trails, shops and restaurants.
• Leadville hosts extreme sports such as the Leadville 100 as well as boasting of a groomed path in the winter for skate skiing on the Mineral Belt (wonderful for biking in the summer) or enjoy a ski to hut experience at the Tennessee Pass Cookhouse.
• There are 3 nearby breweries (Eddyline in BV, Elevation in Poncha Springs, Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub in Salida); 2 wineries (Mountain Spirit Winery & Vino Salida) and 2 whiskey distilleries (Deerhammer in BV & Two Guns in Leadville).
• Downhill Skiing is 45 minutes away at Monarch, 55 minutes away at Ski Cooper and 75 minutes away at Breckenridge (all weather depending).
• For relaxation, Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort is 3 miles East. Enjoy a great meal, a massage and a dip in the hot springs. And Cottonwood Hot Springs is on County Road 306 (starts out as East Main). South of Salida is Joyful Journey Hot Springs.
• For adventure, head up the road to St. Elmo ghost town for hiking, ATVing, and feeding the chipmunks in the summer; xc skiing & snowmobiling in the winter.
• West of us is Chalk Lake and East of us is Wrights Lake, both stocked with trout weekly in the summer. Please do not clean your fish in the cabin! Additional fishing can be found North of Buena Vista at Clear Creek Reservoir, Twin Lakes and Turquoise Lake. Johnny Canoe rents boats in the town of Twin Lakes.
