Introduction
The Doral Academy of Technology and Design CTE program will provide creative and artistic technology programs in Fashion, Textiles, and Design. Rooted in Doral’s educational philosophy of arts integration, Doral Academy of Technology and Design will provide opportunities for students to think critically and analytically, utilize problem-solving skills, work collaboratively with their peers, and to become imaginative and creative thinkers in the area of information and media technology. The CTE pathway of Fashion, Textiles and Design will allow student completers of the Doral Academy of Technology and Design to fill high-skill and high demand jobs in Southern Nevada.
Workplace Readiness
Students enrolled in the Fashion, Textiles, and Design pathway will learn valuable employability skills such as effective communication, technical writing, and presentation skills. Students will create their own portfolio that highlights exemplary work for each standard which can be used to assist them in obtaining internships or employment. Students will learn about project management, working with deadlines, and collaboration, all tools necessary for successful employment.
SkillsUSA
All students enrolled in a CTE pathway are encouraged to participate in a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO). CTSO's provide opportunities for CTE students to further develop their leadership and technical skills by engaging in character development, technical citizenship, and teamwork skills that are essential in the workforce. SkillsUSA provides opportunities for CTE students to complete in numerous technical and leadership skill areas that will enhance their learning and understanding of their CTE pathway.
