Teacher collaboration, curriculum planning, content creation and resource sharing in the Donegal ETB to support student learning and meet the needs for all learners in the 21st century. The integration of digital technologies to support classroom learning to motivate students in achieving the learning outcomes and enhance the learner experience.
This project began in 2016 with the introduction of the new Junior Cycle programme. The project aims to to bring Donegal ETB schools together to collaborate and design interactive units of learning to enrich the learning experience of students in Junior Cycle.
Our units of learning have been developed using Donegal ETB G Suite platform:
Google Sites - this allows users to Google sites allows users to create websites, utilising a simple drag-and-drop web design tool. Teachers designing a google site for education can embed a wide variety of resources, creating an interactive online tracking resource.
Google Classroom - for the assessment of each unit of learning. Each task on the Google Site is directly linked to Google Classroom to allow students to submit work as they progress through their learning journey.

Each Google Site is linked with a specific Google Classroom. This means that as students progress through the site, they can submit work for different learning tasks in their Google Classroom.
Not all tasks have to be digital. Some can involve writing into copies and submitting photographs of work in Google Classroom (under specific tasks).
Both Google Sites and Classroom are compatible with mobile devices, as well as tablets and laptops.
In March 2017, our project, Junior Cycle Curriculum Planning, Content Creation and Resource Sharing- Teacher Collaboration, successfully applied to become one of the clusters of schools participating in The School Digital Excellence Fund. This fund supports clusters of schools who are working together on innovative projects in teaching and learning using digital technologies.
As a consequence we now have additional supports from the PDST and the JCT at our disposal along with the vast amount of experience with the Donegal ETB organisation. We also enjoy a close working relationship with the Donegal ETB Further Education and Training Centres.
...So we can enrich the learning experiences in our schools.
...To promote meaningful and effective teacher collaboration between our schools.
...To encourage a more blended approach to teaching and learning in the 21st century.
