With the guidance and support of faculty advisors, students receive assistance from career staff in selecting appropriate internships, instruction and clarification of internship policies, contracts, site agreement forms, grading expectations, and support during the internship experience. Internship sites include business, non-profit, education and public organizations. The sponsoring organization receives mutual benefit from the internship program. Internships can be paid or non-paid.
To ensure that your internship experience is meaningful and rewarding, it is important that you, the Career Development staff, your internship site supervisor and internship faculty advisor collaborate on all aspects of your internship. In order to benefit from your experience, it is critical that you communicate with your site supervisor regarding your duties and responsibilities throughout your internship. Take this opportunity to learn as much as possible about the industry, the company culture and the day-to-day operations of the organization.
You must be registered for the internship course prior to participating in the Internship Program.
You are required to attend an internship orientation meeting prior to submitting your internship paperwork. (Dates TBD) Failure to attend one of these meetings will result in your paperwork being held for submission to the Registrar’s Office.
All internship forms and assignments must be completed and submitted to appropriate personnel by the advertised deadline.
Communicate any significant changes in your duties or hours in the internship to the Career Development staff immediately.
Report to your internship site on time for the scheduled hours and days; if you are ill or an emergency arises and you are unable to attend contact your internship site supervisor as soon as possible.
If you are experiencing any difficulties at your internship, and are unable to resolve them by speaking with your supervisor, contact the Career Development staff to arrange an appointment to discuss your concerns.
