Adaptive Furniture

Adaptive furniture is used by people with diverse needs, not just wheelchair users. For many reasons, students might require cushioned seats, chairs with lower lumbar support, chairs with or without arms, etc. But most importantly, adaptive classrooms ensure safety, help improve fine motor skill development, facilitate longer periods of concentration, and promote socialization - supporting students in their learning and engagement.

If you have any questions about student use of adaptive and accessible furniture, please email Matthew, Director of ADS, at accessibility@dominican.edu.

Please contact ADS if a student believes they require adaptive furniture. We can reach out to them and determine their eligibility and their needs.
