Employability Skills Playbook

What are Indiana's Employability Skills?

Extensive feedback from Indiana educators, families, communities, and employers has consistently shown that there are a number of key characteristics essential to a student’s lifelong success. Together, these characteristics represent the knowledge and skills that all students need in order to be best prepared for life after high school. Whether it’s the ability to respectfully communicate and collaborate with others or the ability to demonstrate perseverance, and professionalism, competency in these skills helps to prepare students for their next step.

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) designed this playbook to support district and school leaders as they help students develop in-demand employability skills that prepare them to meet the ever-changing needs of today’s workforce.
