The La Salle Dance Company - Folk is the official folk dance group of De La Salle University under the Culture and Arts Office. Best known for their vibrant performances of Filipino ethnic and traditional dances, the La Salle Dance Company - Folk seeks to become a leading university folk dance company by incorporating diverse arts forms into the traditional dances of the Philippines and nurturing the Filipino identity in the youth, establishing the involvement of Indigenous groups, and enriching tradition through community engagements.
The La Salle Dance Company - Folk (LSDC-Folk) under the Culture and Arts Office (DLSU-CAO) was first established last 2012. It made its first appearance during Pagdayaw: Launch Concert last 2013. Other than their major productions, LSDC-Folk also hosts various projects such as Remix, — a university-wide dance competition — and community engagements. Moreover, the company actively promotes the Filipino culture locally and internationally through its participation in different cultural festivals such as the Pasinaya: CCP Open House Festival in the Philippines, ASEAN +3 Youth Cultural Forum, ASEAN Arts Festival, and the UKM World Art Festival in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, and Laos. Their advocacies of strengthening the Filipino culture and the arts were also made possible by collaborating with other groups such as the UP Filipiniana Dance Group and the La Salle Filipiniana Dance Company as well as, resource speakers and cultural experts of different fields and indigenous communities. This will hopefully create a spark of nationalism and boost the cultural pride of the Philippines locally and internationally.
