The La Salle Dance Company - Contemporary is the premier contemporary, jazz, and modern dance company of De La Salle University under the Culture and Arts Office. The company was established in 1980, formerly known as the La Salle Dance Troupe (LSDT), and in 2004 changed to La Salle Dance Company - Jazz. It was in 2011 that it has found its reputation today as the La Salle Dance Company - Contemporary. Defined by the confluence of traditional and modern Filipino culture, the university's contemporary dance group promotes Filipino cultural awareness through brilliant integration of dance and creatives.
The La Salle Dance Troupe was founded in 1980 where it has adapted various genres of dance and advocated both traditional and contemporary dances. The La Salle Dance Troupe takes pride in organizing one of the longest-running inter-collegiate dance competitions in the region, Dancelebration.
In 2004, the La Salle Dance Troupe agreed to call themselves the La Salle Dance Company - Jazz, one of the genres under the umbrella of La Salle Dance Company. It was in 2011 that it decided to become the La Salle Dance Company - Contemporary that fully encapsulates its identity today. LSDC-C is fully committed to the promotion of Filipino culture, and the advocacy of contemporary dance as a vessel for cultural realization and pride. Furthermore, the company strives to elevate the standards of contemporary dance through experimental pieces using various art forms.
