4th & 5th Grade: Tuesdays in September - 2, 9, 16, 23, 30th
2nd & 3rd Grade: Spring 2026!
Students and teachers coming together for some outside after school movement. We run around the block behind the school together. Students are expected to stay on the sidewalks while running and pay attention to cars exiting driveways.
We meet once a week for 5 weeks in the Fall (4th & 5th) and 5 weeks in the Spring (2nd & 3rd). Students will meet in Mrs. Lyson's classroom after school. We will have time for a snack, bathroom break, and water bottle refill before we head outside to run. Each week, there will be an RSVP form emailed out to those who completed the Permission Slip.
Students will bring their backpacks and anything that they need to take home from school that day. These items will be hung up on the hooks outside of Mrs. Lyson's classroom. Students should wear comfortable gym shoes and weather/running appropriate clothing. Students should bring a water bottle.
Nope! Students are welcome to run/jog the whole time or they can take walking breaks with their friends.
For my 1st year of Run Club, we had 1 session for all 2nd-5th grade students. I had 80 students sign up and all of them in my classroom at one time! It was AMAZING, but also overwhelming and difficult to manage. This is what has worked best.
Students will be dismissed from Run Club from the main front steps. Parents will be asked to provide their child's dismissal plan. If the plan states that their child will walk/ride home, then they will be dismissed from Mrs. Lyson's classroom. If students are being picked up, they will be dismissed from the front main steps. If students are in After Care, they will be sent to After Care at dismissal.
Parents of students who will be picked up early need to inform Mrs. Lyson by email a head of time. Parents will go to the main office when their child needs to be picked up. The office will contact Mrs. Lyson to send their child in to the office. It may take a few minutes for your child to get inside, then go to Mrs. Lyson's classroom to get their things and then go to the office, so be sure to plan accordingly!
Email me at lysonk@district96.org for details on how to sign up!
