A Saturday Afternoon With Sandra Cisneros
October 14, 2023
Saturday's Chicago Humanities Festival event with Sandra Cisneros was remarkable! Going from reading her poetry to myself to havingher read it to me (and, of course, hundreds of others) was a dream come true! Her truth, honesty, passion and vulnerability shined forth in everything that she spoke about and read.
Sandra Cisneros' lifelong experiences of being born and raised in Chicago to those as she currently lives in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico have been masterfully shared in House On Mango Street, Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories and Woman Without Shame. The latter is her most recent book of poetry. Moreover, it is the first collection of poems that Cisneros has published in 28 years!
