Dual Credit College Algebra
Course Description
Dual Credit College Algebra (MAT 161 at MCC) covers solutions of equations and inequalities, exponential and logarithmic functions, polynomial functions, graphs. This course is primarily intended for business and social science students. A graphing calculator is required. It may be any brand, but the TI-84 is used by the instructor for classroom presentations.
It is recommended that students confer with their prospective colleges to ensure proper transfer of credit before enrolling.
NOTE: Entrance into Dual Credit College Algebra is accomplished in three ways:
1) Grades of B or better in both semesters of Intermediate Algebra
2) Qualifying score on the entrance exam, offered at HHS each March
3) Qualifying SAT score

Dual Credit College Algebra is a 1-semester course (0.5 HHS credits), taken during the second semester. Its curriculum and policies are guided by MCC. Students should take DC Gen Ed Stats in semester 1, and then continue into this course during second semester to gain 3 more semester hours (6 total) at MCC, which correspond to degree requirements for students pursuing an associates of science degree.
