Help Desk Procedures during Hybrid Learning

The Help Desk will continue functioning in the same manner it has during distance learning by providing help to students and staff through remote means. This will mean that students will be able to receive assistance for Chromebook issues via email communication with a Help Desk staff member.

Whether a student is working remotely or in the building, the Help Desk will support the student through the Chromebook Help Desk form. Teachers will provide a space for students to perform troubleshooting steps where a charger is required.

Students will use the guided form to perform troubleshooting, and if the steps do not resolve their problem, they will submit the form. The Help Desk will then reach out to the student with potentially new steps to be taken, or if the Help Desk deems that the Chromebook will need to be exchanged, instructions will be provided to the student on where to drop off their Chromebook

Students in the building will be directed to exchange their Chromebook at the Help Desk. Students that are remote will be directed to exchange their Chromebook at Door 1.

Loaners

It is the student's responsibility to bring their Chromebook to school with them every day fully charged. During Hybrid Learning, students are in addition required to bring their Chromebook charger to school. If a student has forgotten to charge, or bring their Chromebook, the Help Desk can provide a loaner through the Loaner Request form. After filling out the form, a Help Desk technician will provide a loaner to the student which can be picked up from the cart stationed outside of the Help Desk. If a loaner is needed because a Chromebook is not charged, the student can leave the Chromebook in the provided charging station outside of the College and Careers office.

Loaners must be returned to the Help Desk by the end of the day. They can be left on the cart outside of the Help Desk, on the second shelf.

Additional Information

  • Students who need to access the helpdesk will need to do so virtually. The Help Desk door will be closed in-person communication.

  • Students that are waiting for their device are expected to wait at marked-off locations for assistance.

  • Students must have a pass to be in the hallways, including when coming to the Help Desk to exchange their device.

  • The number of loaners a student checks out is tracked, and reported to the student's dean.
