Promotion of awareness, education, and action to prevent road accidents in Timor-Leste
Every Life Matters on the Roads
Read in/Lee iha>>>
Road safety is a serious issue in Timor-Leste because every year, thousands of accidents occur, leaving families devastated and communities struggling with loss. Most of these accidents can be prevented if we all take responsibility by improving road conditions, respecting traffic laws, and practicing safe habits every day.
The consequences of unsafe roads are more than just numbers: they represent lives lost, injuries that change families forever, and heavy burdens on our health system. Road safety is about protecting everyone; drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians. By working together, we can save lives and build safer communities.

Initially, the topic of “Road safety” directly connects to the 3rd UN Goal (Figure 1): Good Health and Well-Being, which emphasizes the importance of prioritizing good health for all lives and reducing injuries. Through the help of one another, Timor-Leste can work on having safer roads, moving closer to achieving the 3rd UN Goal, while also building a safer and sustainable future to protect the well-being of the citizens.
