The 6th grade class at West Oak Middle School was able to go on a field trip to Camp Duncan. During this field trip students were able to participate in team-building activities that encouraged them to get outside of their comfort zones. They worked together to make decisions and set goals using their problem -solving and communication skills while having fun.
All the special education students and teachers at West Oak Middle School were able to go on a field trip to Stade's Farm. Field trips are rich with life lessons. They allow students to collaborate with their peers, explore new environments, make connections, problem solve, and develop trust and empathy.
Stade's farm tours are designed to be a fun, educational experience that allow students to enjoy learning about farming, animals, crops, and the process of how food ends up on their tables at home. Special education students benefit from social experiences outside of their classroom and school. This grant provided for entrance to the farm and one pumpkin per student.
