We have very specific arrival and departure times for your program. Please carefully read below and call us with any questions.
Fly into and out of Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Int’l Airport (airport code: JNB):
You can arrive anytime before 9:00 AM on the first day (we highly recommend arriving a day prior, please see our recommended hotels below under Early arrival/Late departure).
You can depart on the last day of the trip anytime after 7:00 PM *If you are doing an extension, consult the guidelines below:
There is an internal domestic flight in South Africa between Hoedspruit- Johannesburg (JNB). This is booked by Discover Corps, there is typically a 1 bag / 20kg (44 lb) weight limit. Any extra luggage may incur fees. Please pack lightly if you can, there's laundry available for a nominal fee.
Cape Town Extension:
Fly into Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Int'l Airport on the first day of South Africa: Wildlife Conservation Expedition trip before 11:00 am
Fly out of Cape Town International Airport (CPT) anytime on the last day of the extension. The trip is finished after breakfast on the last day of the extension.
Discover Corps will book the one-way, domestic flight to Cape Town (CPT). This generally departs for Cape Town after 4:30 pm or 7:00 pm , the exact time is TBD.
**For the domestic flight on the extension, checked baggage is limited to 44lbs per person, and no single item may weigh more than 70 lbs. Carry-on baggage may not exceed 15 lbs.
Victoria Falls Extension:
Fly into Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Int'l Airport on the first day of the South Africa: Wildlife Conservation Expedition trip before 11:00 am
Fly out of Victoria Falls Airport (VFA) anytime on the last day of the extension. The trip ends after breakfast on the last day of the extension.
Discover Corps books your flight between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls. This flight leaves in the morning of Day 11. Example:
Day 10- Final day of the South Africa trip. Overnight in Johannesburg.
Day 11- Fly to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
Day 12- Victoria Falls
Day 13- Victoria Falls
Day 14- Depart Victoria Falls Airport back to the U.S.
Early Arrival/Late Departure
Discover Corps recommends that you arrive a day prior to the start date to avoid missing part of the trip in case of any flight delays or cancellations.
Please note that if you decide to arrive earlier:
You can book an early night at the hotel directly.
You are responsible for the transfer from the airport to the hotel.
We can arrange to pick you up at your hotel on the first day of the itinerary. Please let your Travel Coordinator know where you will be staying.

If you plan to arrive before the trip start date or stay extra days, and need help with booking a hotel and airport transportation, our partner Wings Travel can assist you.
