Please contact your bank and let them know you will be traveling in Bali and may be using both debit and credit cards. If your bank doesn't know, they may block access to your card while you are here.
There is no need to bring large amounts of cash. ATMs are widely available, and we can schedule stops during the trip for travelers to withdraw money as needed.
We suggest each traveler budget approximately $100–200 USD for the entire trip for personal expenses.
Please note that most places accept cash only, and all transactions are done in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
While tipping is not expected at most meals or group activities, we do encourage tipping for our guides and drivers as a way to show appreciation for their care and expertise. The recommended ranges below are per traveler. You may set this amount aside and provide it at the end of the trip—there’s no need to tip daily.
Discover Corps Guide: $5–7 USD per person, per day
Discover Corps Driver: $3–5 USD per person, per day
Community day guide step-on guide: $3–5 USD per person
Boat Staff on snorkeling day: $3–5 USD per person
Discover Corps includes tips for hotels and group restaurants during the program. However, if you arrive early or dine independently, we recommend the following:
Hotel staff: $1 USD per bag
Restaurant staff: $1 USD per person, per meal
Local guides (outside the program): $3–5 USD per person
