Entry Requirements & Visa
To enter Indonesia, your passport must have at least two blank pages and be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your arrival in Indonesia. If your passport does not meet these requirements, you will be denied entry.
Visa-on-Arrival: You can apply for a visa on arrival at some international airports, seaports, or land crossings. To apply for the visa on arrival, you must have an ordinary (non-emergency) passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date you plan to enter and the date you plan to leave Indonesia and a return or onward flight booking to another country. There is a 500,000 Indonesian Rupiah fee (about $35). The visa on arrival is valid for up to 30 days.
Electronic Visa-On-Arrival: You may also apply for an electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) in advance if you are entering Indonesia at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta or Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. Check the e-VOA requirements from Indonesian Immigration before applying. To apply for an e-VOA see https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/. Apply up to 14 days before travel.
UPON ARRIVAL:
The Indonesian government recently announced plans for a new tourism fee. Effective 14 February 2024 onwards, all international visitors to Bali will be required to pay 150,000 IDR (approximately 10 USD) on arrival. This one-time payment is required prior to entry, whether by land, sea, or air. Guests can pre-pay by card, bank transfer, or with virtual accounts via the official website (https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/). You can also pay on arrival by credit card, however, to avoid any delays Discover Corps recommends the prepayment option. This fee is different from the VOA (electronic visa-on-arrival) fee.
A digital receipt will be issued post-payment and must be presented at various checkpoints throughout the stay. This receipt remains valid for the entire duration of the visit to Indonesia, even if travelers exit and re-enter Bali.
A New Entry Requirement for Indonesia, which came into effect on 30 August 2024.
All international passengers are now required to complete an electronic health declaration prior to entering the country.
This form, known as the SATUSEHAT Health Pass, can be accessed at https://sshp.kemkes.go.id.
We recommend completing the form within 24 hours before boarding inbound flights to ensure a smoother entry process. After submitting the form, travelers will receive a barcode containing their health and travel information. An electronic copy of the barcode should be saved, as it will be scanned at the airport upon arrival.
Additionally, body temperature checks will be conducted upon arrival. If a traveler’s temperature exceeds 37.5°C, further health screening will be required.
These procedures have been introduced as a preventative measure to limit the spread of new Mpox variants.

Fill out either up to 3 days before travel or on arrival and have the QR code ready for scanning by the customs agent.
Passport
The passport of people traveling to Indonesia needs to be valid for at least 6 months on the day of arrival.
If you do not have a passport it is important to apply for one as soon as possible. It often takes four to six weeks to process the paperwork for a passport (and even longer during the peak travel season of March to August). For questions about obtaining or renewing your passport (American citizens) you can click here.
If you have a passport, please note it needs to be valid for up to 6 months after your scheduled departure date.
It is also important that you have at least one completely blank page (with no stamps or visas) in your passport. This is a requirement for entry into many countries.
If you are a U.S. citizen and need assistance with obtaining a new passport, we recommend working with G3 Visas and Passports to make the process smooth and easy.
*Note: Make several photocopies of your passport. Leave a copy at home with your family and carry a copy with you at all times when you are overseas. If you should lose your passport, having a copy will speed up the process of replacing it.
