Weather: Jamaica enjoys a tropical climate, characterized by warm temperatures and generally sunny weather year-round. Here's a breakdown of what to expect:
Temperatures:
Daytime temperatures typically range from 77°F (25°C) to 88°F (31°C) throughout the year, with coastal areas being slightly warmer. Nights are cooler, especially in higher elevations, where temperatures can drop to 68°F (20°C).
Winter months (December to February) tend to be cooler, with lower humidity and pleasant breezes, making it a peak time for visitors.
Summer months (June to August) are hotter and more humid, with temperatures occasionally reaching the high 90s °F (35-37°C), particularly inland.
Rainfall:
Jamaica has a wet season from May to October, with the heaviest rains occurring between September and October. This is also the peak of the hurricane season, although direct hits are not guaranteed every year.
The dry season spans from November to April, making it the most popular time to visit.
Hurricanes:
While hurricanes can affect Jamaica, the island is situated outside the most hurricane-prone areas, though there is still a chance of storms during the peak of the season (August to October).
In short, Jamaica offers a warm, tropical climate with some variation in rainfall and humidity depending on the season, but you can generally expect great weather for beach vacations year-round.
