🌟 As International Women’s Day on 8 March 2025 approaches, with #AccelerateAction as this year’s theme, it gives us an opportunity to reflect on how we continue to support and promote gender diversity.
We are committed to ensuring that as a company, and as a platform, we champion diversity and inclusion. We are proud to stand with women everywhere—our Orangers, drivers, riders, partners, all customers and communities we serve.
At IBG, we have various initiatives in place to foster an inclusive workplace and culture. Check more details from our Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Report.
Ahead of IWD 2025, we have also published some key insights into the use of our services by women across IBG.
More women than ever are earning an income and accessing services through DiDi, demonstrating the potential for digital platforms to help accelerate gender equality. Some of the key highlights, including comparisons from 2024 to 2023, are as follows :
120% growth in women drivers in Argentina
53% growth in women drivers in Colombia
104% growth in women couriers in Costa Rica
50%+ of passengers and eaters are women in many IBG markets
Nearly 50% of loan users in Mexico are women, a 3% growth since 2023
Below are some of the stories from women drivers and couriers:
Carla, DiDi driver in Argentina
Carla is an Argentine woman whose life took an unexpected turn when, after 33 years, her relationship came to an end. Until then, she had enjoyed a stable and comfortable life as a housewife. However, after the separation she lost not only emotional support but also financial stability. At almost 50 years old and facing a new and challenging reality, Carla made a brave decision: rebuild her life from scratch, trusting in her love of driving and her ability to connect with people.
"As for how I overcame my initial fear, I remember that at first I only drove about four hours and my legs were shaking from nerves. Little by little, I increased my driving hours, got used to the streets and learned the 'unwritten rules' of daily driving," says Carla.
Mariana, a single mother in Mexico City, found a new path in DiDi Food after losing her job in the pandemic. Things began to change when a friend introduced her DiDi Food. At first she didn't even have a bicycle, but her friend helped her get one and she started delivering on foot until the bicycle arrived.
"When I worked in restaurants, I knew when it started but never when it ended. I rarely saw my son awake. Now, I decide my schedule. I can connect as much or as little as I want, and it's totally up to me," says Mariana.
Carla and Mariana represent many of the women connected through DiDi.
