At ALP-NC, our mission is to empower individuals from diverse backgrounds to become effective leader advocates. We believe that by sharing our stories, working together, and learning from each other, we can create a more just and inclusive world. Our program connects people from across the state who are committed to disability advocacy and justice.
ALP Leader: The individual participants taking part in the ALP-NC Program.
Program: The overall training experience that leaders will go through, including online Sessions and Learning Team Meetings.
Session: A virtual meeting with all participants to learn and discuss content. The Program is made up of four (4) Sessions.
Learning Teams: Small groups that will meet three times between sessions A, B, C, and D. Each group will have one (1) Facilitator.
Cohort: A group of people who come together to learn, share ideas, and support each other's efforts to enhance their understanding, collaboration, and effectiveness.
Facilitator: Someone who helps the group get things done. They help with learning, discussion, and getting results without taking over the group.

May 1: Learning Team Meeting 2 - 12 pm - 1 pm
May 8: Session C - 9:30 am - 1:30 pm
May 15: Learning Team Meeting 3 - 12 pm - 1 pm
May 22: Session D - 9:30 am - 1:30 pm
May 29: StoryShare and Graduation - 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Details
The 2026 ALP-NC Leader Cohort 1 lasts 9 weeks, meeting every Friday from April 3 - May 29.
Each Session will meet from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm (one 30-minute break and two 10-minute breaks)
Each Learning Team Meeting will meet from 12pm to 1pm. These meetings will occur weekly via Zoom.
Once Leaders are selected, calendar invites and Zoom links will be sent.
