Thaís Carrero (pronounced tah-EES kah-REH-roh), she/her/ella, serves as the EarlyWell Policy Strategist with the North Carolina Early Childhood Foundation, positive mental health, thriving relationships, and equitable access to care for where she co-leads the EarlyWell Coalition to advance policies that support young children and their caregivers. She was appointed by Governor Josh Stein to North Carolina’s Interagency Coordinating Council, advising on systems that support infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families, and also serves as the Coordinator for the Ability Leadership Program Alumni Network. A longtime social justice advocate, Thaís brings experience in policy, advocacy, communications, and grassroots organizing, shaped in part by her daughter Miciela, who has a rare genetic disorder. Grounded in disability, gender, and racial justice, her work centers on a whole-child, whole-family approach so every child and family can thrive with dignity and opportunity.
Judith Brown is a disability advocate in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. A non-profit founder, she works with local communities and resource organizations to create a support network for people with disabilities, which includes space for civic and community inclusive events and advocacy efforts in and beyond Charlotte. Judith is a certified facilitator trainer for the Abilities Leadership Program of North Carolina (ALP-NC) as well as the Communications and Marketing Specialist for the ALP-NC Alumni Network.
