ALP-NC focuses on advocacy education primarily through the crafting and sharing of personal stories. Leaders graduate from our program with the capacity to share an impactful and succinct narrative about a personal disability justice issue.

"If there's something you're needing to advocate for, whether it be for better mental health, physical health, or what have you, I think ALP-NC gives greater courage to advocate for your own self and your own needs."
— ALP-NC Leader
In ALP, stories help people understand and care about problems. We believe that by sharing our lived experience, we can address disability justice issues and make a difference.
Leaders use the StoryShare toolkit to develop their own personal narratives and then practice with their small-group Learning Teams. Each participant has the opportunity to share their final version with their cohort in the format of their choosing. Leaders graduate with a polished story crafted for impact.
