Topic: SUSTAINABILITY (21 Mar 2024, 2pm)

Crossing the tipping point into sustainable habits requires ongoing effort and reminders to keep environmental concerns at the forefront of our minds, even for seemingly mundane tasks like recycling. Rather than solely focusing on reducing resource consumption, embracing accidental environmentalism—a mindset where actions are motivated by personal meaning and impact—can drive lasting change.

To facilitate this shift, it's crucial to tap into individuals' interests and motivations. Personal interests, whether in trendy fashion, cost savings or other areas, can serve as entry points for meaningful environmental action. By connecting these interests with broader environmental and social causes, individuals can find purpose in their efforts.

Hear from our speaker, Hai Lin, senior manager for sustainability at Singapore Institute of Technology. Since her time with NGO Zero Waste SG in 2017, she has led several projects and initiatives driving the circular economy in Singapore and Southeast Asia. In 2019, she was awarded the NEA EcoFriend for coordinating the Bring Your Own Singapore movement which had since onboarded more than 135 partner brands and 1,000 retail and F&B outlets. During our session, Hai Lin will draw upon her experiences to share insights and inspirations from enterprises and social movements that have effectively championed both environmental conservation and social welfare. Join us as we delve into actionable strategies and transformative approaches towards a more sustainable future for our planet and communities.

Topic: social isolation (28 mar 2024, 2pm)

Social isolation among the elderly presents challenges in keeping up with societal changes, as they often interact primarily with peers of their own age group. Generational shifts and advancements in technology exacerbate this isolation, leaving those technologically-challenged feeling left behind. Bridging the gap involves addressing the need to keep the elderly engaged socially and mentally, finding ways to connect across generational divides, and overcoming language barriers that hinder communication and understanding.
