Remo T. Valenton, born in 1957, from Bauan, Batangas, Philippines, is a renowned artist celebrated for hisdynamic and innovative approach to artistic expression.
Studied Fine Arts at Philippine Women’s University (PWU Manila) with a major in Painting, Remo has carved a distinct path in contemporary art. His signature style, known as Remoism, transcends classical boundaries, blending elements of Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism. Through his art, Remo captures reality with a fluid, intuitive process—much like a potter shaping clay—where mind, intuition, and body harmonize. His work is distinguished by bold, vibrant colors and rich textures that evoke experiences rather than merely depict subjects.
In addition to his mastery of color and form, Remo is known for incorporating upcycled materials, such as scrap corrugated iron roofs, into his art, reflecting his commitment to environmental sustainability. This aspect of his work was highlighted in an online article by Glen Rieta of Amazing Batangas, a website dedicated to promoting local tourism and the culture and arts of Batangas. The article, Remoism Unleashed, emphasized the environmental benefits of Remo's use of repurposed materials, demonstrating his innovative approach to both art and eco-consciousness.
A respected figure in the art community, Remo is the founder of BAGSIK, the first art group established in Batangas in 1991. He continues to lead the group as president in 2024, actively participating in numerous art events and exhibitions. His dedication to promoting and teaching art is reflected in his involvement in the 2024 BAGSIK Group Art Show titled “Batangas, Ang Kagandahan sa Matang mga Alagad ng Sining Biswal” held at Museong Batangas, Provincial Capitol, Batangas City.
Remo's contributions to the art world have been recognized in several prestigious publications, including Bintana: Batangas Art Through the Eyes of 149 Visual Artists, Treinta Y Tres: 33 Years of BAGSIK, and The Alphabet of Contemporary Artists Vol. 2 by Lander Blanza, as well as the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) book. His numerous accolades include being named "Amang Sining Batangueño" and receiving a Certificate of Excellence Golden Award from BAGSIK.
Remo's artistic journey, filled with awards, exhibitions, and leadership roles, continues to inspire and elevate the art scene in Batangas and beyond.

Collectivist of Happiness
Explore the shared experiences and emotions that connect us as individuals within a community. This series represents the collective pursuit of inner peace and well-being and a state of tranquility that arises from both personal reflection and the harmony found in togetherness.
The dominant blue hues symbolize the spirit of the South African people and the vast oceans that connect the world, reflecting the idea that happiness is nurtured through a balanced and peaceful mind. The pointillism technique, applied in a monochromatic blue palette, signifies the interconnectedness of people’s journeys, emphasizing kindness, spirituality, and the shared pursuit of joy.
By incorporating corrugated, rusted iron roof pieces, I aim to honor the materials that once provided shelter and protection – reminders of the homes and communities that shape our sense of belonging. These elements, now repurposed, serve as metaphor for resilience and the ability to find beauty in transformation.
The white, green, black, yellow, and blue spiral PVC confetti reflect the ups and downs of life, mirroring the diversity of experiences within a community. White represents purity and the history of South Africa’s people. Green symbolizes a deep connection to the land and environment, a reminder that happiness is rooted in nature and shared prosperity. Black embodies strength and resilience, while yellow is associated with happiness, wealth, and the sun’s life-giving energy. Illuminating the path toward a brighter, more unified future. Blue, representing water, conveys healing and spiritual peace.
Through this abstract expressionist work, I seek to highlight how every fragment of our lives, like every found object, carries meaning and contributes to a greater whole. Collectivist of Happiness embodies not just an individual pursuit but a shared aspiration. A reflection of the happiness we create together. It is an expression of my identity, my art, and the essence of Remoism – the art of Remo Valenton.
