Aris Bagtas has been one of the most influential artists of this times. As his family name “Bagtas” literally means “to walk the path”, he has guided the young and upcoming artist to walk the path of success. His neo-realism style is reflected in the way he uses what he calls traditional subjects” while painting them using contemporary methods.
Aris held countless One-man shows, group exhibits, art workshops and outreach programs in the Philippines and Abroad. His recent exhibits were Viaje 2 Filipinism “What Makes Art Filipino” held in Milan, Berlin, Essen, Brussels: Art Shopping Paris-Carrousel Du Louvre in Paris, France and Rome Art Expo Autumn Edition in Rome, Italy in 2023.
He was a recipient of International Prize Botticelli held in Jan. 2024 at Borghese Palace Florence, Italy and International Prize Leonardo da Vinci (Gold Edition) in April 2024 at the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, Italy, and International Prize Phoenix in June 2024 at Scuola Grande Di San Teodoro Venice, Italy. He was a recipient of Gintong Kabataan Award in Visual Arts in 2002 and also received recognition from the Provincial Government of Bulacan entitled Kislap ng Sining 2024 for his contributions in the field of arts.
Bagtas has contributed his talent to the creation of mural paintings to the esteemed churches and Cathedrals which are installed inside the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Immaculate Concepcion and Santissima Trinidad Parish both in the City of Malolos, Bulacan; The Manila Cathedral in Intramuros; National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Fatima and San Diego De Alcala Parish both in Valenzuela City; Minor Basilica and National Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz in Binondo, Manila; Divine Mercy Parish in Occidental Mindoro; St. Kamillus Church in Essen, Germany. His work entitled “Prusisyon ng Ina Poon Bato” was given to Pope Francis by the Bishops of Luzon in 2019 which is now one of the collections of the Vatican. His works have been published in several art books and magazines. He has also done commission artworks for Rebisco's 55th Years Special Edition Designer Tin Can in 2018 and Artwork Trophies for Philippine Airlines Awards in 2018, 2019,2023,2024 and 2025.
Bagtas served as an Executive Committee of NCCA- National Commission for Culture and the Arts and a Vice President on External Affairs of AAP- Art Association of the Philippines. He is currently the Art Director of Kunst Filipino- Kapatiran at Ugnayan ng Natatanging Sining at Talentong Filipino which was given Presidential Awards for Filipino Individual and Organization Overseas (Banaag) in 2021.
