The DFA Ladies Foundation, Inc. (DFALF) is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Department of Foreign Affairs. It is chaired by the Spouse of the Secretary and its Board of Trustees is constituted by DFA personnel and officers who are likewise members of the DFALF.
The DFALF is committed to enriching the lives of the members of the Philippine Foreign Service and the community through various initiatives and advocacies. Its vision is to build a more caring, humane, family-oriented and socially and internationally conscious DFA. Its mission is to develop unity, promote camaraderie and generate esprit de corps among its members and to contribute to their physical, intellectual, and social development.
BRIEF HISTORY
● Imbued with the desire to promote unity and camaraderie among the lady employees of the Department and the wives of its male personnel, Madame Kazuko “Kay” Siazon and a corps of officers and staff organized the DFA Ladies Association.
● On 10 July 1996, the founders invited all interested DFA female employees to a gathering to present the organization, trustees, officers, objectives and activities of the Association. It was organized as a non-profit association.
● The Association was transformed into a Foundation on 09 December 1996 to maximize the privileges provided by law for civic groups. The Foundation’s incorporation marks its birth as a legal entity
DFALF VISION AND MISSION
Vision
● To build a more caring, humane, family-oriented and socially and internationally conscious DFA
Mission
● To develop unity, promote camaraderie and generate esprit d’ corp among its members;
● To contribute to the physical, intellectual and social development of the members of the Foundation;
● To be engaged in activities/projects beneficial to DFA personnel;
● To promote solidarity and welfare within the DFA; and
● To strengthen the DFA’s institutional capacity to contribute to the good of the country.
Objectives
● Provide scholarships to qualified children of members particularly those falling within the lower income brackets
● Promote livelihood activities designed to improve the quality of life of members
● Provide donations and other forms of assistance to members who are victims of calamities and natural disasters
● Undertake projects geared towards the development, enrichment and preservation of Filipino arts and culture
● To make, execute and perform contracts of every sort and kind with other institutions, persons or agencies for facilities, services or undertakings that shall promote, support or serve the objectives and aims of the Foundation
Generally, to organize, conduct, perform and carry on any activity which may be, directly or indirectly, incidental or conducive to the attainment of the objectives.
