Grading Guidelines: Parent Information Sheet

The grading guidelines have been adjusted during Spring 2020. This document outlines important updates to the grading guidelines for students attending any school within DeSoto ISD. If you have additional questions, please reach out to your campus leader.

First, do no harm: context for our Grading guidelines

To determine the best approach to grading policy, we first committed to the axiom, “First, do no harm.”

We understand that there are many implications for rankings, GPA, college admittance, credits, etc. with respect to grades. We carefully considered the realities of our global pandemic and its impact on students across the country and the globe. We conferred with colleagues around the state and around the country. We conferred with campus leadership and teachers. Ultimately, we believe we have arrived at a grading policy that retains our firm focus on learning, while allowing flexibility, empathy, equity, and excellence for our students.

Please direct questions regarding grading to your campus leadership team – we will post responses to Frequently Asked Questions to our website on an on-going basis (COMING SOON). More information on progress reports, report cards, and specifics regarding class rank and GPA is coming soon. Check back regularly for updates.
