Each and every decision DeSoto ISD has made since the novel coronavirus changed life as we know it has been painstaking, intentional, and first prioritized the health, safety, and well-being of each of our stakeholders. Like educators across the country and across the globe, we have been faced with the challenge of continuing to provide learning opportunities for students while ensuring the safety, health, happiness, and learning of our employees and students.

As a school district, we operate as a system - just like the human body, every cell is interoperable and critical to the health of the whole. No single cell can exist without the system created by the collective whole.

As we constructed our district response to the impact of COVID19, we have been driven by 3 core questions:

1. Excellence: How do we continue to provide high-quality learning experiences for students while balancing the realities of a global crisis?

2. Empathy: How do we ensure that we seek to meet the human needs of every person in our system (employees, kids, and families) while we accomplish this?

3. Equity: How do we work to resolve barriers to instruction, especially for our students who have the most barriers to access?

The safety, health, happiness, and learning of every child and every employee in DeSoto ISD is what is most important to us - in that order! #TogetherWeWill!

In DeSoto ISD, we believe Anytime, Anywhere Learning is providing access to high-quality learning experiences for every single child through the creativity, collaboration, and solution-orientation of our teachers and leaders.

We seek to remove barriers to those learning experiences for every child and to move beyond the bounds of the brick and mortar school building or the limitations of the clock. AAL means blended learning opportunities for every child, anytime, anywhere.

Although our moves toward AAL have been expedited by a global pandemic, AAL is not only a response to the situation. It’s an opportunity for us to increase the flexibility and personalization of learning.
