DeSoto ISD Summer Offerings
DeSoto ISD is excited to offer a variety of academic & enrichment learning opportunities this summer.
Academic Programs
Elementary 2 – 5 Academic Summer School (Includes BIL and ESL)
Overview: By invitation only. Current 2nd – 5th grade students that have met the district invitational requirement based on universal screener data (I-station). Parents have received an email and physical letter for invitation.
If a student did not receive a summer school invitation, we invite him/her to engage in the DeSoto ISD Summer Learning Activities.
PK – 1st grade students will receive a Summer Scholastic Weekly Reader containing a variety of learning activities to complete throughout the summer. (Scholastic Weekly Readers will be mailed to the student’s home. DeSoto ISD is awaiting the Weekly Reader arrival)
Date: June 7 – June 24 (M – TH)
Time: 8:30am – 3:30pm Breakfast & Lunch will be served
Location: Katherine Johnson Technology Magnet Academy (transportation will not be provided)

Middle School 6 – 8 Academic Summer School
Overview: By invitation only. Current 6th – 8th grade students that did not meet the passing standard for STAAR and/or course completion requirements.
If a student did not receive a summer school invitation, we invite him/her to engage in the DeSoto ISD Summer Learning Activities.
Date: June 7 – June 24 (M – TH)
Time: 8:30am – 3:30pm Breakfast & Lunch will be served
Location: McCowan Middle School (transportation will not be provided)

High School 9 – 12 Academic Summer School
Overview: Credit Recovery for in-district students only.
Dates:
Session 1: June 7 – June 24 (M – TH)
Session 2: July 12 – July 29 (M – TH)
Time: 3:00pm – 7:00pm
Criteria: Current 9th – 12th grade students seeking to regain a semester credit in the available summer courses.
For students not attending Credit Recovery are welcome to engage in virtual summer learning through the DeSoto ISD Summer Learning Activities
