College Culture
--Palm Desert High School has a dynamic, active college and career center. Lynette Wolhmuth, the counselor at this center, is a very connected adviser to all students, and possesses a wealth of knowledge. She has provided guidance to the coordinator and our site team, and is an invaluable support to our students. (3.1.1)
--It is because of the CCC that PDHS AVID is able to visit so many campuses and is able to correspond with representatives from a wide array of universities.
Rigor & A-G
--All students are encouraged to take rigorous courses. All students are exposed to meeting A-G requirements. (3.3.6)
--AVID students are checked each quarter for their A-G progress and grades. (3.3.6)
--AVID students receive rewards for finishing each semester successfully remaining A-G compliant. (3.3.6)
--AVID students who are on the Honor Roll at the semester receive recognition (3.3.6)
Site Members
--The site team is growing and has teachers from several different department, the college and career counselor, an academic counselor, and a vice principal who are all committed to helping students get to college.
Funding
--AVID is included in the district budget and is administered by a district coordinator. (3.3.7)
--Funding for tutors and staff development is provided by the district. (3.3.7)
--The field trips to colleges are paid for almost entirely by the CCC. (3.3.7)
--Extra funding is gained through fundraising.
