Culture of Rigor
--Rigor is expected in all academic classes. (4.1.1)
--Students participate in writing in each course they take as ensured by the School Wide Writing program and Common Core Curriculum. (4.1.1)
--AVID teachers provide additional strategies at trainings and meetings to increase rigor. (4.1.1)
--WICOR and note taking is becoming more accepted and implemented schoolwide. (4.1.1)
--AVID and the CCC provide provided throughout the year to inform students and families of financial aid, college applications, A-G requirements, and finding the right college. Students and families are given many resources to access further information about these areas. (4.2.4)
--Every site team member and a wide collection of other teachers on campus utilize Cornell Notes/Three Column Notes/Focused Note strategies. The administration supports and expects these strategies to be used regularly. (4.1.1)
Guest Speakers
--AVID arranged and sponsored a guest speaker from Stanford University. Michelle Strausman is the assistant director of undergraduate admissions who delivered a presentation to two different periods of AVID students and members of the student body. She provided information to over three hundred students. (4.2.4)
--The CCC arranged for three student ambassadors from CSU San Bernardino to visit the AVID classes to present (4.2.4)
College Night
--The AVID site team with the College and Career Center hosted College Night for the student body, where we presented information on the benefits of going to college, A-G requirements, college admissions, and financial aid. (4.4.4)
AVID Club
--The AVID Club did three fundraisers and meets on a weekly basis
