Hey Diamondbacks!
My name is Nora Nickoel Ortega, and I am the counselor for students with last names A- LIN at Desert Ridge Academy (DRA). I am so excited to meet you and help you have the best experience at DRA! As part of the DRA Counseling Team, my goal is to work together with your families, teachers, school personnel, and community to best serve you.
I was born and raised in the Coachella Valley and graduated from Coachella Valley High School, go ARABS! I attended California State University, San Bernardino where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology with minors in Finance and Spanish as well as my Master's degree in Counseling and Guidance.
A fun fact about me is that I studied abroad in Spain for an entire academic year! #CollegeisCool
During my free time, I like to play sports, take pictures, shop at Costco, spend time with my family, and of course, travel!
I can't wait to get to know you and serve you this upcoming school year.

My name is Jamie Gibb, and I have worked in education for 20 years. This is my 5th year at DRA as a school counselor. I look forward to working with your child and supporting them throughout their journey at DRA.
Counseling Mission Statement:
I will collaborate with my team to provide a comprehensive counseling program that empowers all students to discover their full potential through their growth in academic, personal, and social/emotional domains. In partnership with all stakeholders, I will assist all students in acquiring the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to become effective students, responsible and balanced citizens, productive workers, and lifelong learners and problem-solvers. Every student can learn, grow, and achieve!
Counseling Vision Statement:
I will strive to provide an atmosphere of security, warmth, and encouragement as DRA students reach their fullest potential in the areas of academic, social-emotional, and personal development. I am committed to establishing a solid foundation that empowers DRA students to successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, and productive citizens who respect themselves and others
